Strange Engineering's Dana 60 rear replaces the weak 7.5" rear end found in F-Body cars.
The Strange Dana 60 rear end features the following:
- Standard 35 spline Strange S/T axles
- Massive 9.75" ring gear
- Premium nodular iron case and caps
- Adjuster nuts for precise and easy set-up
- One piece center for enhanced rigidity
- Multiple center section choices (see option box)
- Fully welded 3.00" x .250" axle tubes
- Large 3.150" housing ends - eliminating c-clip axles
- Manufactured to "bolt-in"
- Optional aluminum rear cover
- Standard axle is 35 spline, or upgrade to 40 spline solid or gun-drilled!
- 25# heavier than a 12 bolt, 10# heavier than a 9" but without the 9" power loss!
Strange Engineering offers the strongest and easiest to install Dana 60 rear end in the industry. The Strange designed casting is poured from premium, highly ductile, nodular iron. The casting is machined with mated lightweight chrome-moly caps to exacting tolerances, using the latest Mazak machinery - ensuring an unyielding foundation that maximizes gear life and eases gear set installation.
What's in the set-up? Everything! Each rear end is meticulously assembled by a set-up department unsurpassed in the rear end market - the same department that fastidiously assembles $20,000 Top-Fuel rear ends. We do not mass-produce rear ends. Each rear end receives the attention, regardless of time, needed to provide our customers with the best possible assembly. Every rear end component is relentlessly scrutinized by our experienced set-up department - including massaging each tooth of every gear set in order to optimize tooth contact.
Strange Engineering has been the leader in driveline and suspension for over 40 years by paying special attention to detail - the Strange Dana 60 rear end is no exception. The Strange rear end features 360* fully welded tubes, large 3.150" i.d. housing ends, 1350 series pinion yoke, and 35 spline axle shafts. Each rear end is fully crated to ensure the recipient of an uneventful delivery experience. The pride instilled into a Strange set-up is evident with the set-up technician's signature and date engraved into each ring gear.
1982-1992 F-Body rear drum and disc brakes are not compatible and can't be used. 1993-1997 and 1998-2002 F-Body rear disc brakes, Strange's 11" drum and 11" disc brake kits, and Wilwood rear disc brakes will install with no modifications. Note: If you will be installing 1993-1997 F-Body rear disc brakes you must select the Strange billet aluminum backing plates from the option box. If you will be installing 1998-2002 F-Body rear disc brakes you can send the backing plates to Strange, or select to have Strange supply and install new backing plates for you.
Installation of the Strange Dana 60 rear will require shortening your driveshaft 1.625". If you will be ordering a Wiles built driveshaft you will need to specify you have a Strange Dana 60 rear.
Shipping Notice: All Dana 60 complete rears must ship by truck freight. Please allow 3-4 weeks for shipment after ordering, Strange rears are built to order.
